Postpartum Meal Delivery Orange County

I often say, you should plan your birth like you plan your wedding and you should plan your postpartum like your honeymoon. It should be something you can relax and enjoy after all the energy and effort of birth. Set up your home and life in such a way that you can 100% focus on your new baby and your recovery. Making sure you have nutritious, easy meals (that anyone can make even if they aren't a cook) is one of the most important if not THE most important factor to consider.

For my third birth I was determine to get my "First Forty Days" of recovery time that is integral to many cultures around the world (not the USA, but I am hopeful that is changing). One way that I did that was to order postpartum meal delivery from a local family owned company called Mama Meals. They have done the research and leg work for you regarding the most important ingredients and types of foods for postpartum. They offer pre-made, nutritious meals based in traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda and Weston A. Price philosophies. All you have to do is reheat low and slow and you have easy to digest comforting meals. These meals and focusing on my nutrition made a HUGE difference in the recovery for my birth compared to my previous ones. I felt nourished and cared for during this special time.

I received gift cards from family members instead of "stuff" at my baby shower and I also got the Mama Meals PDF cookbook and premade some of the recipes (love the pancakes!) and they have all been fabulous! Six months later I am still using the recipes and the recommended ingredient brands that are also super high quality with no gross ingredients. Any way we can decrease our toxin load while breastfeeding is just icing on the (gluten free ;) ) cake!

And remember…

The best meals to prep postpartum are:

  • Warm, soft, easy-to-digest

  • Clean, protein rich, whole food

  • Soups, stews, porridge, broths, congee.

Food to avoid postpartum:

  • Cold, hard, dry, crunchy

  • Highly-processed, fillers and preservatives

  • Cold drinks, chips, raw veggies

Good luck mama!
